Framed objects include a pastel portrait of Charles Stetter by Janet Niemala, a collage of photographs of Ruby Stetter and a photograph and letter from President Ronald Reagan.

The Keweenaw Historical Society held its first meeting on May 16, 1912. The attendeeâ‚‚s appointed L. L. Hubbard, Dr. A. F. Fischer, J. T. Reeder, L. A. Chase and J. A. Doelle to form a constitution and on June 11, 1912 the Society met and accepted this constitution. R. Charles Stetter was born on January 23, 1919 in Laurium, Michigan. He attended the local schools, graduating from Calumet High School in 1937. After a short stint in Detroit, Stetter served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. After the war, he attended the University of Michigan, eventually earning a graduate degree in education.
